The American Academy of Pediatrics has updated information on children and the use of video games, computer games, television and computer use.

For children 2 years of age or older, the recommendation is less than 1 hour daily. This does not include computer use to complete

homework for school.

Children 18 to 24 months of age should not have any screen time. Increased screen time decreases amount of time spent with active play and playing with toys.

Active play is necessary to decrease obesity in children. Toys are important for child development and interaction with others.

They are also important for growth of the imagination. Playing with toys helps to develop fine motor skills and gross motor skills.

The American Academy of Pediatrics website has great information on appropriate toys for children and also has information on the safety of toys!

Happy and Safe shopping to all!
