INFLUENZA UPDATE

While this flu season has not been quite as severe as seasons past, there has been a recent rise in a less common flu strain. This strain is the H3N2 strain , which belongs to the influenza A family. This strain of flu does seem to have more severe symptoms.

We cannot stress enough that the best way to avoid the illness is with the flu vaccine. We still have stock of the vaccine and urge you to get your child scheduled if you have not done so already.

If this is the first season that your child will be receiving the flu vaccine, he/she will need 2 doses given 1 month apart. If he/she has had the vaccine in the past, 1 dose is sufficient. If you have any questions regarding the flu vaccine, call our office and speak to our triage nurse!
